Welcome to the Madison County Quarter Horse Association Website!

At the time Madison County was heavily populated by Walking Horses, eight men had hopes of introducing the multi-versatile breed know as Quarter Horses to Madison County. In 1984 Chuck Givens, Bobby Jack Smith, David Cornelison, Darrell Bowles, George Bryant, Ricky McKinney, Barry Adams and Curtis Tate gathered in Bobby Jack’s Barber Shop to establish the association and provide a family-friendly community for Quarter Horse enthusiasts. Their enthusiasm primarily surrounded timed events such as the barrel racing, pole bending & flag racing, but most of all they wanted to create an atmosphere for Quarter Horses, whether for showing or just riding the trails for the entire family to enjoy.
Since the beginning, the association has had a regular scheduled monthly meeting on the first Monday of every month. Starting in 1989, the association began hosting an evening that included dinner, presentation of year-end awards and an auction. Each year the association gives away one saddle to a lucky member on this evening.
The association is greatful for 25+ years of success and growth, and is happy to say that the Quarter Horse is now one of the most popular breeds in the county. This association has made full circle...Families have raised their children around their horses, friends and competition. Now those members have grandchildren who are learning to ride within the association.
Our members have accomplished so much over past twenty-five years that it is truely remarkable. We have members competing at every level of competition and winning State & Regional titles, AQHA Hi-Pt titles, AQHA World Championships and members who have bred AQHA World Champions. Phenomenal for such a small community!
From family fun to elite competition Madison County Quarter Horse Association seeks to support the horse lovers of their community.
